Privacy Policy

RarKit collects nothing. No personal data, no usage data, no diagnostics, no identifiers. There is no account to create and nothing to opt out of.

RarKit has no networking code. It never connects to the internet — not to check for updates, not to report errors, not for anything else. Your files never leave your Mac because the app has no way to send them anywhere.

What happens to your files

Everything RarKit does happens on your Mac. When you open an archive, its contents are read locally and shown to you. When you extract or create one, the files are written to the folder you chose. Nothing is uploaded, copied elsewhere, or shared.

RarKit runs in the macOS App Sandbox. It can only reach files and folders you pick yourself — by opening them, dragging them onto the window, or choosing a destination. It cannot browse the rest of your disk.

What is stored on your Mac

RarKit saves your own preferences — such as whether opening an archive should show its contents or extract it right away. These stay on your Mac, in the app's own storage, and are removed when you delete the app.

To show each item's date, RarKit reads file timestamps. That information is displayed to you and never leaves the app.

Third parties

There are none. RarKit contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting service and no third-party tracking of any kind.

The app includes the UnRAR decompression engine from RARLAB and the open source libarchive library. Both run entirely offline as part of the app and neither collects or transmits anything.

Children

RarKit is safe for all ages. Since it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children either.

Purchases

RarKit is sold through the Mac App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details, and Apple's own privacy policy applies to that transaction.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be about wording rather than practice.
